Harvey Geiger Fellowships in Architecture
Yale University
The Harvey Geiger Fellowships, established by Harvey Geiger, B.A. ‘64, M.Arch ‘69, support undergraduate travel and research in Architecture. The fellowships acknowledge the formative role of travel in the education of an architect and encourage the first hand exploration of significant issues and contexts.
The Fellowship is open to all juniors in the architecture major in Yale College. Applicants should demonstrate that their intellectual development and educational experience in architecture would be significantly enhanced through independent research and travel on a focused topic.
Preference will be given to students who are proposing work related to independent studies or senior essays. Proposed supervision of the research by a Yale faculty member, if relevant, should be incorporated into the proposal. These fellowships do not support structured programs of any kind, including, but not limited to, internships and coursework.
Minimum Duration: 6-8 weeks. Projects of shorter duration will not be considered. The proposed project must be a full-time commitment and be the primary activity for the duration of the fellowship.
Report & Exhibition: Fellowship Recipients are required to submit a short report summarizing their research, including selected images, upon completion of their travel and no later than the first week of the Fall Semester. Fellowship recipients are also required to exhibit their work as part of an exhibition showcasing summer research and travel in the architecture major during the Fall Semester.
