DENNIS A. LUBBS MEMORIAL GEOGRAPHY SCHOLARSHIP

HISTORY:
The Western Illinois University Foundation will hereby establish a scholarship endowment per the terms of this agreement, to become effective on such date as the minimum funding requirements for an endowed scholarship fund have been received and accepted by the Foundation. This scholarship fund has been established by Kathy Lubbs in memory of her husband, Dennis Lubbs, to provide financial assistance to WIU graduate students majoring in Geography. Dennis Lubbs graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1974 and a Master of Arts degree in 1977 in Geography. His emphasis of study was physical geography with minors in urban and community studies. Dennis was the vice president of Genesis Nursery, Inc. a 360 acre native prairie seed and plant supplier. Dennis held a lengthy resume of involvement with a number of conservation organizations including the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Bureau County Soil and Water Conservation District, The Nature Conservatory and the Society for Ecological Restoration where he served in a variety of capacities on boards and committees.
CRITERIA:
- Applicant must be a graduate student at WIU majoring in Geography.
- A GPA of 3.2 or better. Financial need is not a consideration and the scholarship will be awarded based on merit. Activity/involvement within the Department of Geography and/or the community.
