Marino Accommodation Scholarships

The Marino Accommodation Scholarships were established in 2020 to assist Māori students with suitable fully catered accommodation where tikanga (Māori cultural practices) and te reo Māori (Māori language) are part of everyday life. It is intended for students who would otherwise be unable to attend Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington for family or financial reasons. These scholarships can assist with accommodation and catering costs in the Joan Stevens Hall.
Who is eligible?
Up to twenty scholarships are offered to Māori students who are intending to enrol in their first-year undergraduate studies, who would otherwise be unable to attend the University for family or financial reasons. Applicants must be in Year 13 or have completed Year 13 in the year prior and be taking a gap year.
Selection criteria:
- Applicants must be enrolling at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington in their first year of undergraduate study in the year following application
- Applicants must be experiencing financial hardship
