Overview

History and purpose:

This scholarship was established, via the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation, through a bequest from Bruce Lauder of Timaru, in memory of his sister, Janet Lauder, who had a long career as a nurse.

This scholarship is to support postgraduate nursing students at Victoria University of Wellington undertaking research in public or community heath. The funds are to be used to support research-related expenses or fees.

Eligibility

Applications will be considered from students in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Practice, who are writing a Master's or PhD research thesis in public or community health. Preference will be given to full-time students but part-time students are also eligible.

Selection Criteria:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a Master's by thesis or PhD in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Practice at Victoria University of Wellington.
  • Applicants must be a registered nurse.
  • Applicants' research thesis must be in public or community health.
  • Selection will be made on academic merit and financial need.
  • Preference may be given to applicants of Māori or Polynesian descent.
