The Ivanie Down Joslin Classics Scholarship is for current third year or Honours students, studying towards a Classics, Latin or Greek major.

History:

This scholarship was established to encourage students to continue their studies in Classics. Classics is vital to a broad based humanities education. It examines the legacies of ancient Greece and Rome, the ideas expressed through language and literature and how they have influenced the way we live today.

This scholarship is open to a current full time student majoring in Classical Studies, Latin, or Greek, who is intending to enrol in their third or Honours year of an undergraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington in the year following application. Applicants are chosen on the basis of academic merit and their passion for the subject. Financial hardship may be considered as a secondary consideration when choosing a recipient.

Selection criteria:

• Applicants must be currently enrolled at Victoria University of Wellington as a full time student.
• Applicants must be majoring in Classical Studies, Latin or Greek.
• Applicants must be intending to enrol in 300 level or towards a Bachelor of Honours.
