The award is available to permanent residents of New Zealand who have been accepted for the Certificate in Deaf Studies at Victoria University of Wellington.
History:
The purpose of the scholarship is to support fluent NZSL users to gain a qualification in teaching NZSL from Victoria University of Wellington. This scholarship was gifted by Sir Roy McKenzie when the 'Certificate in Deaf Studies: Teaching NZSL' was established in 1997.
Applicants must be intending to enrol in the Certificate of Deaf Studies in the following year at Victoria University of Wellington. Selection is based on the candidate's potential to succeed in the programme, commitment to working in the field of teaching NZSL or Deaf community development, and level of financial need where relevant.
Criteria:
- Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
- Applicants must be intending to enrol in the Certificate of Deaf Studies in the following year at Victoria University of Wellington.
