Brian Fox Scholarship
Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
History and purpose:
This scholarship was established in 2017 through the Victoria University of Wellington Foundation by Brian Fox who began his university education in 1946 but was unable to continue. He completed a Teaching Diploma at Wellington Teachers College and enjoyed a forty-year career as a highly respected teacher and Principal. He was the first to teach English as a second language to Colombo Plan students in the early 1960s. Brian returned to university in the early 70s to complete his degree but degenerating eyesight prevented him from finishing. He has always maintained a keen interest in poetry and New Zealand History and has established this fund to assist students studying these disciplines.
The Brian Murray Fox Scholarship offers opportunities to students at 2nd year and 3rd year undergraduates, Honours, Masters and PhD students to support studies in English Poetry, New Zealand History or at the International Institute of Modern Letters.
