Alumni Appeal Scholarship for Second Year Students

This scholarship is designed to support talented students to continue their studies at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington by removing financial barriers to study and success.

History:

Alumni Appeal Scholarships are generously funded by alumni and friends of Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington who believe in the University’s mission to ensure talented young people are given the chance to fulfill their potential through a university education.

Each year, the University welcomes students from diverse backgrounds to enrol here. For many of these students and their families, the cost of their education may be out of reach. Each scholarship will support the aspirational achievements of students who are financially disadvantaged.

Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit, equity, leadership, and commitment to community. Applicants must have completed one year of full-time study at the University.

Selection criteria:

• Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or Permanent Residents of at least two years' standing.
• Applicants are expected to have achieved a B average (6.0 GPA) in their first year of study.
• Applicants must be intending to enrol full time in their second year of an undergraduate study in the year following application at Te Herenga Waka–Victoria University of Wellington.
• Applicants with volunteering experience may receive preference.
• Applicants experiencing financial hardship may receive preference.
