Overview

Supporting high achieving student athletes from rural and remote areas who have relocated to study.

Kate Allen is a runner and triathlete who won a gold medal in the women’s Triathlon event at the 2004 Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Kate grew up on a 1000-hectare sheep farm in rural Australia and as a child enjoyed running, often running 3 kilometres to and from her primary school.

Kate graduated university as a nurse and then travelled through Europe where she learned to swim and ride, quickly mastering the triathlon event at the elite level. She achieved podium placings at European and World Championship events prior to winning her Olympic Gold medal. She is now a high-profile sports personality in Austria.

Kate’s success story is one of seizing opportunity and working hard to develop personal talents to their full potential. This bursary aims to support a student athlete from a rural area to develop their talents and pursue their goals as Kate has.

Payment of this bursary will be made approximately three weeks after Census Date, once enrolment has been confirmed.

Please Note: This bursary is offered on a yearly basis through funds provided by an external donor. If funding is not available in any given year, the bursary will not be awarded.
