These scholarships will be awarded to undergraduate, access and postgraduate students who are seeking asylum or staying in the UK on humanitarian grounds.

Sanctuary scholarships for undergraduate courses

For undergraduate scholarships, this year's deadline for applications is 1 December 2023. Please apply via the Carnegie Trust. If you have any questions about applying for support, please do contact the Carnegie Trust, who can help you through the application process. Students who receive a fee scholarship from the Carnegie Trust can also apply for study cost grants from the Trust up to three times a year.

It also includes support, generally in the form of in-kind contributions, to help students meet travel and other essential study costs, up to a value of:

  • £2,000 for access programmes
  • £3,000 for postgraduate programmes
