Overview

In 2023, UniSQ will offer one Alan Edwards Memorial Scholarship to support a student continuing their studies in the Bachelor of Theatre.

Alan Edwards AM MBE (1925–2003) was an accomplished actor and the founding Artistic Director of the Queensland Theatre Company in Brisbane. Alan was considered a major contributor to the artistic life of Queensland and was awarded a Member of the British Empire and Member of the Order of Australia for his services to theatre. He was also made an honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Southern Queensland. The Alan Edwards Memorial Scholarship was established in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the arts community and to theatre at UniSQ. The scholarship will be awarded annually on the basis of merit, to a third-year UniSQ Toowoomba student pursuing studies in Theatre.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be continuing their studies at UniSQ in the Bachelor of Theatre in Study Period 1 2023 (e.g., Semester 1 2023)
  • have, as at the release of results for Semester 2 2022:
  • a minimum of 16 study units completed and credited towards their current program
  • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0
  • be enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in Study Period 1 2023 (e.g., Semester 1 2023)
  • be enrolled on-campus at UniSQ Toowoomba.
