Southcott Undergraduate Engineering Scholarship

With more than a century of manufacturing and engineering experience, the Southcott company has evolved to become a specialist in the field of hydraulic supplies and high-performance system design capable of meeting the requirements of Australia’s most demanding industries.
The Southcott Undergraduate Engineering Scholarship is available to commencing and continuing mechanical engineering students studying full-time in one of the following undergraduate programs at the University of South Australia:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical and Mechatronic)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical and Advanced Manufacturing)
- Australian citizen, Australian Permanent resident, holder of a permanent humanitarian visa, or international student.
- Studying in Adelaide (Mawson Lakes campus).
- Full-time study load.
- Enrolled in an eligible program at UniSA.
- ATAR of 80 or above or Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 or above.
- Submission of a written statement.
- Submission of two character references with at least one reference from a referee not connected to the applicant’s secondary school or university.
- Attend an interview.
The scholarship is a prestigious award recognising students who can demonstrate academic achievement, leadership skills and/or potential, and have a passion for engineering with clear career objectives.
The scholarship includes the requirement for recipients to engage with a leading Australian manufacturer by conducting the final year project and work experience placement or internship at Southcott. There is also the possibility for recipients to benefit from part-time work experience while completing their university studies.
Applicants are required to provide a written statement (500-750 words) detailing:
- Reasons for studying a mechanical engineering degree.
- Future career goals and personal aspirations.
- Academic standing and achievements.
- How the scholarship funds will benefit them.
- Work experience, community involvement and extracurricular activities/interests.
- Leadership and leadership potential demonstrated in the applicant’s academic, professional and personal life.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.
The scholarship will be awarded with the recipient’s agreement to conduct the final year project and work experience placement or internship at Southcott.

Value: up to $30,000 Up to $7,500 per year to a maximum of four years for full-time students, paid in instalments after each study period census date. Scholarship payments are not retrospective – recipients receiving the scholarship in second, third or fourth year will not receive funds for previous study periods.
Recipients are required to maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 or above.
