Irene and David Davy Scholarship for Advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education

This scholarship is open to *Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander full time and part time students of the University of South Australia who are, or will be, undertaking the final year of an undergraduate program or an Honours year.

The scholarship is valued at up to $5,000 and is awarded on the basis of academic merit, a written statement, supporting statement from your Program Director/Coordinator or Honours Supervisor or Head of School and community service. The applicant's written statement should outline:

• describe any community service that you have undertaken or intend to undertake in the near future
• describe your family heritage and your connection to community
• name of current program and reasons for studying it
• academic achievements
• future interests and intentions in your professional area after completion of your degree
• reasons for applying for the scholarship

Please note that previous recipients of the Irene & David Davy Scholarship for Advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education are not eligible to re-apply.

Continuance of the scholarship is subject to satisfactory academic performance and recipients should maintain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.5 or above.

Value: Up to $5,000 available to full-time or part-time students, split in two instalments after the Study Period 2 and 5 census dates. If the study load is part-time for any given semester, recipients receive the pro rata rate (half the full-time rate). Depending upon the stage at which the scholarship is received and progression, the recipient may not receive the full $5,000. Payments are not retrospective.

Where the study load is 13.5 units or above in a semester the recipient will be paid the full-time amount of $2,500; if the study load is less than 13.5 units, the resipient will be paid the part-time rate (pro-rata) of $1,250.

Once you have submitted your online application via myScholarships, you will be contacted by the UniSA Scholarships team within 5-7 business days and advised what supporting documentation you are required to provide in order to be considered for the grant(s) that you have been deemed eligible for.
