The Scholarship was established in 2016 in memory of Professor Kurt Kreielsheimer who arrived in New Zealand as a refugee in the 1930s and enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Department of Physics at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support an undergraduate student undertaking their second or subsequent year of study towards a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) majoring in Environmental Physics or Physics with an interest in Environmental Physics/Climate Physics.
