Kupe Leadership Scholarship

The Scholarship was established in 2018 and is funded by a number of philanthropic donors after seed investment by the McCall MacBain Foundation. The intention of the Scholarship is to encourage and support exceptional students with a view to developing the next generation of leaders in New Zealand. Each scholar will be matched with a mentor from the community, who is themselves a leader in their field, to advise, challenge and guide them as they complete their study. They will also participate in a bespoke Leadership Programme.

Applicable study: Full-time study in a bachelors (honours) degree, postgraduate diploma or masters degree (see Reg. 3)
Tenure: One year

Offer rate: Annually
Value: Accommodation and/or a stipend up to a value of around $25,000, plus a customised Leadership Development and mentoring programme (see Reg. 2)
Selection process:
- Application is made to the Scholarships Office
- A Selection Committee assesses the applications
- Short-listed candidates will be interviewed
- The Scholarship is awarded by the University of Auckland Council on the recommendation of the Selection Committee
