Overview

This non-renewable scholarship was established by the friends and loved ones of George “Scooter” Finch and R.V. Henley, to honor their legacies of dedication to their students and the teaching profession. This scholarship is awarded annually to at least one graduating senior of El Dorado High School. The scholarship will alternate each year: one year it will be awarded to a student pursuing a college degree in education, and the next year will be awarded to a student seeking training from a vocational institution. BE SURE TO CHECK WITH YOUR COUNSELOR TO KNOW WHICH SCHOLARSHIP IS AVAILABLE THIS YEAR.

Application Requirements for Vocational School Scholarship:

  • Scholarship application.
  • Cumulative high school transcript through the most recent term. (There is no minimum GPA for the vocational scholarship).-
  • One letter of recommendation from your vocational teacher.

Application Requirements for College Scholarship:

  • Scholarship application.
  • High school transcript through the most recent term. Students who receive this scholarship must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. (Must include ACT or SAT score).
  • Brief, typewritten essay on why you plan to be an educator, and why you think the scholarship will help you achieve your goal.
Eligibility

Eligibility requirements for selection of scholarship recipients apply to students who are graduating seniors of El Dorado High School. Recipients will be chosen from students who are either seeking a degree in education, or planning to attend a vocational institution. The criteria to be used by the Advisory Committee in selection of scholarship recipients shall include, but not be limited to: financial need and school performance.
