Overview

This scholarship was established by the Joseph Olivier’s (Class of 2001) maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Solomon, to honor his memory in perpetuity. This nonrenewable scholarship is awarded annually to at least one graduating senior of El Dorado High School.

Application Requirements:

  • Scholarship application.
  • Cumulative high school transcript through the most recent term. (Must include ACT or SAT score).
  • Two letters of recommendation: one from a school official and one from an adult other than a family member.
  • One single page typewritten essay describing how the student will use this award to further his/her educational plans as they relate to a career. This essay should not focus on the student’s achievements (which should be listed separately in the appropriate area on the application form), but should address the reasons why the student wants a science-related career.
Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility requirements for selection of scholarship recipients apply to students who are graduating seniors of EHS; recipients will be chosen from students who show promise and interest in the field of science. Students who intend to make career choice in any science-related field, such as medicine, chemistry, biology, etc., may apply for the Olivier Scholarship. The criteria to be used in the selection of recipients shall include but not be limited to: financial need, academic merit, and recommendations from school officials.
