Overview
This fund was established in 1983 by Mrs Margaret Broad, in memory of Dr Jon Broad and Philippa Broad, who died in the Mount Erebus air disaster. Philippa Broad had intended to start an MSc in Earth Sciences at the time of the disaster. One scholarship will be offered annually until 2037 when it is anticipated that the funds will be fully depleted.
Purpose:
The Broad Memorial Fund is used to assist graduate students in Earth Sciences engaged in Antarctic research or in a research area of current interest to the programme
Eligibility
For students who are enrolled full-time or part-time in the thesis year of a masters degree (e.g. MSc, MSc(Research)), MPhil or PhD qualification in Earth Sciences.
