Overview

Scholarship awarded to 1. assist UToledo students who wish to study German language, culture, civilization, and literature: a. in an approved program in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. b. in an approved program in the United States where total immersion in the German language is assured. 2. assist UToledo students who wish to pursue an approved internship or work experience in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland; 3. assist UToledo students pursuing research in German-related areas, e.g., archival research, either abroad or in the United States; 4. assist students who graduate with a degree in German from The University of Toledo and wish to pursue a graduate degree in German 5. support the continuation of relationships established as part of the exchange program between the Georg-Büchner-Gymnasium and The University of Toledo from 1980 to 2005. 6. support graduate students in the German M.A. program, and 7. support undergraduate students enrolled in a German class above the intermediate level during the academic terms of the award year with preference give to German majors and minors. All such students in 6 and 7 must register for an average of one German course each term of the award year. Students receiving an award are expected to complete a degree at The University of Toledo. Scholarship requires current FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be on file in the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Eligibility

All admitted or continuing UToledo students are invited to apply for scholarships. Most scholarship applications open in October and close from December to March. Once scholarship committees have selected recipients, all scholarship applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via their UToledo email.
