Overview

Background:

The scholarship was established in 2013, Peter Rae, son of Mrs Elva Mary Rae, founded the Mrs Elva Rae Talented Mathematics Students Initiative to encourage and support talented female mathematics and statistics students to reach their full potential in the mathematical sciences. This scholarship acknowledges top-ranked female Honours or Masters students based on their undergraduate studies.

Elva Mary Check graduated from The University of Sydney in 1949 and went on to a successful career as a biometrician

Eligibility

You must:

  • be female, having an unconditional offer of admission and enrolled full-time in a Science undergraduate degree within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.
  • be enrolling in a Science degree that is solely administered by the Faculty of Science. Degrees that are combined with other Faculties will not be considered.
  • be enrolled in 12 credit points of mathematics/statistics/data units in your first year of study and 18 credit points of mathematics/statistics/data in your second year of study. Applicants are encouraged to enroll in advanced mathematics/statistics/data units.
