Overview
Background:
This scholarship has been donated by Eleanor Jew, in memory of her father, Graham Jew. Graham started his career in a rural mixed practice in northern NSW, before working and travelling throughout Southern Africa. He passed his love of the continent to his daughter Eleanor, who now works in conservation and development in Africa.
This scholarship was established in 2017 to support students to contribute to improving animal welfare in developing countries whilst gaining experience to develop their careers and make a lasting contribution to veterinary science.
Benefits:
The scholarship is valued up to $4000 and paid as a one-off payment.
Eligibility
You must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- be in your third or fourth year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
- undertake a placement in Africa or a developing/developed country, with a focus on animal welfare
- demonstrate financial hardship via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) Equity Scholarship
