Ongoing donations from both Mrs. Herta Barron and Dr. Joseph Garcea of the authors' royalties from the sale of Urban Indian Reserves: Forging New Relationships in Saskatchewan edited by Dr. F. Laurie Barron [Professor, Department of Indigenous Studies] and Dr. Joseph Garcea [Assistant Professor, Department of Political Studies] (Saskatoon: Purich, 1999), and donations from family and friends in memory of Dr. F. Laurie Barron.

Eligibility

Open to students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course in Indigenous Studies or Political Studies, as determined by the Award Committees.

The award will alternate between the two fields of study.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on academic excellence in an essay that deals with Indigenous issues completed for an Indigenous Studies or Political Studies course, as determined by the Award Committee.
