Overview
This scholarship is offered to talented undergraduate or graduate students who have applied for asylum in Australia.
What are the benefits?
- a living allowance of $5,000 per year (paid in two instalments in April and September) for up to the standard full-time duration of your course.
- a full fee remission for the normal full-time duration of your degree course
Eligibility
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
Undergraduate applicants
- be a citizen of a country other than Australia and New Zealand and not a permanent resident of Australia and either:
- have applied for or hold a temporary Australian humanitarian visa; or
- have applied for a permanent Australian humanitarian visa
- have completed Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
- have applied for a University of Melbourne undergraduate course via VTAC for commencement in the year following completion of Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate
- satisfy the course prerequisites and have achieved at least the minimum ATAR score for the University of Melbourne course
- not have undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a Year 12 program).
Graduate applicants:
- be a citizen of a country other than Australia and New Zealand and not a permanent resident of Australia and either:
- have applied for or hold a temporary Australian humanitarian visa; or
- have applied for a permanent Australian humanitarian visa
- have applied for a University of Melbourne graduate degree by coursework
- satisfy the course prerequisites and have achieved at least the minimum entry score for the University of Melbourne course
Selection criteria:
This scholarship is offered to the students with the highest entry score, where there are more candidates than scholarships available or more than one candidate with a preference for the same degree course.
