Melbourne Foundation for Business and Economics Opportunity Scholarship
THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
The Melbourne Foundation for Business and Economics Opportunity Scholarship was established by the Faculty of Business and Economics to support domestic students intending to undertake the Bachelor of Commerce, The scholarships will be awarded to students who are high-achieving, completed their secondary schooling in a regional or remote area of Australia and are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances. The Faculty will award up to three scholarships annually, which provide biannual payments for the normal full-time duration of the Bachelor of Commerce degree (three years). The next scholarship will be awarded in 2024.
What are the benefits?
The Melbourne Foundation for Business and Economics Opportunity Scholarship is valued at $84,000.
The scholarship will be paid in six biannual instalments of $14,000 for the normal full-time duration of the Bachelor of Commerce degree (three years).
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Have completed Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
- Have completed their secondary schooling in a regional or remote area of Australia
- Apply to commence the Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC)
- Submit an application for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) via VTAC
- Meet the criteria and be eligible for the Access Melbourne Scheme
Selection criteria:
Selection is based on academic merit as demonstrated by ATAR or equivalent, information provided in your SEAS application and information about course preferences provided by VTAC at the time of selection. Preference is given to students who completed their secondary education at a government school in the Goulburn Valley.
The Goulburn Valley is a sub-region, part of the Hume region of the Australian state of Victoria. The Goulburn Valley consists of five municipalities including: City of Greater Shepparton, Mitchell Shire, Moira Shire, Murrindindi Shire and Strathbogie Shire.
The selection committee will not have access to change of course preference information.
