Melbourne Access Scholarship
THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
The Melbourne Access Scholarship provides an allowance of either:
$7,500 per year for three years for students from disadvantaged backgrounds and from regional or remote areas in Australia, or
$5,000 per year for three years for Indigenous students* and students who are experiencing disadvantaged circumstances The duration will be extended by one year if you enrol in a Bachelor (Extended) course and/or a concurrent diploma at the same time as your Bachelor course at the University of Melbourne.
To be considered an Indigenous student you must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander decent, identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and be accepted as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live, or formerly lived.
Indigenous students are offered the Melbourne Access Scholarship together with the Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships with a combined value of $8,000 to $12,000 per year.
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen
- have completed Year 12 or International Baccalaureate in Australia
- not have completed subjects undertaken as part of a tertiary course
- have applied for a University of Melbourne undergraduate degree via VTAC Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) for commencement in the year following completion of Year 12 or International Baccalaureate
- meet the Access Melbourne entry requirements for the University of Melbourne course nominated in your VTAC application
Selection criteria:
This scholarship is offered to eligible candidates who have the highest overall level of disadvantage based on the information provided in their VTAC SEAS application and their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
