Indigenous Accommodation Bursary
THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
The Indigenous Accommodation Grant is offered to Indigenous students who are residing at University Accommodation or Residential College and are ineligible for government accommodation funding or other forms of financial support.
What are the benefits?
The scholarship provides a contribution of $10,000 for a maximum duration of one year if you live at the Melbourne Accommodation or Residential College for a full year, or $5,000 for half a year if you live at the Melbourne Accommodation or Residential College for half a year. and will be paid directly to the accommodation provider
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and be accepted as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the community in which they live, or formerly lived
- have applied for ABSTUDY / Residential Costs Option (RCO) payments and provide evidence (no more than 6 months old) from Centrelink that your application was unsuccessful;
- be currently enrolled in a degree at The University of Melbourne
- be residing in one of the University of Melbourne’s affiliated accommodation providers, as listed on the following webpages: Residential Colleges and other accommodation, and University Accommodation.
Selection criteria
The scholarships are offered to eligible applicants with the highest level of financial need, with a preference given to commencing students.
