Greg and Candy Wehr Memorial Scholarship
The Ripley County Community Foundation
This scholarship was established in 2012 to honor and memorialize Greg and Candy Wehr. Greg and Candy were community members who believed in bettering the lives of those around them through active community engagement. Greg was a Ripley County farmer who graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Ag-Engineering. He served on the Southeastern Indiana REMC Board of Directors and was a private pilot. Candy was a former teacher at South Ripley Elementary and National Consultant for Renaissance Learning who graduated from Indiana State with her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. She enjoyed spending time in her garden. Both enjoyed traveling to new places and flying in their plane. Greg and Candy were innovative thinkers and had high aspirations for themselves and those around them. They will be remembered for their generous hearts, love for family and friends, and happy smiles.
Applicant must:
- Be a Ripley County resident; AND
- Be a graduating senior who plans to start his/her higher education career in the year they graduate from high school; AND
- Plan to pursue a career in the field of agriculture and/or education; AND
- Submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, pastor, school personnel, or employer. The recommender must be a non-family member or peer/friend;
- Submit an RCCF Scholarship Application and all attachments through the online scholarship portal at www.rccfonline.org by March 1st.
