Anthony Waterhouse Fellowship

If you are a teacher, and have an idea about physics teaching that you'd like to develop, the Anthony Waterhouse Fellowship can help.

Who can apply

Practising teachers working in a UK secondary school or college catering for students aged 11 to 19.

How much the grant is for

The grant is £2,000, in two payments, plus up to an additional £1,500 that you can use for:

• travel expenses
• materials and software
• services that will help you develop your idea into something other teachers can use

We will also support you with contacts to physics education researchers and our network of experienced teachers.

• Jonny Berliner developed resources to use in the classroom using the medium of song to help students learn and retain information.
• Rosalind Jack examined the link between teaching physics in the context of technology and business and students taking up the subject after 16.
• Alan McKeegan investigated the effect of peer mentoring on Y11 and Y9 pupils with a special focus on pupil premium students.
