Overview

The Lee Jeberjahn Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Lee Jeberjahn who was born in October 1945 in New York. His family soon moved to California, where he graduated from Palos Verdes High School and earned a bachelor’s in business from Whittier College. Lee will be remembered for living life with the glass half full and having three passions: his family, flying airplanes, and golf. Lee was an American Airlines pilot for 30 years and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and daughters. Lee loved playing many sports throughout his life. As a youngster, he played baseball and basketball. After meeting his wife, they picked up tennis, and eventually discovered their love for golf. Lee loved playing with his buddies but also loved the spirit of competition in tournament play. He qualified for many Northern California Golf Association tournaments and was most proud of playing in a USGA Senior Men’s Tournament. Lee has been the SLO Country Club Senior and Super Senior Club Champion for many years, as well as the Couples Club Champion with his wife. He was lucky and skilled enough to have seven hole-in-ones and maintained an extremely low handicap for decades. Lee chose to share his golf knowledge with the next generation by coaching the SLOHS boys’ and girls’ golf teams for the last 10 years. His goal was to introduce new players to golf and was very excited when one of his players would catch “the golf bug.” To honor Lee’s love of golf and passion for life, his family established the Lee Jeberjahn Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to high school golfers who display compassion for others, a strong work ethic, and respect for the game of golf. The $1000 scholarship will be awarded to one student on the San Luis Obispo High School boys’ golf team and one student on the San Luis Obispo High School girls’ golf team.
