Overview

For Indigenous students enrolling full-time in their second year of an undergraduate degree who can demonstrate financial disadvantage and other circumstance/s which impact their ability to study; worth up to $10,000

The scholarship provides up to $7,500 per annum for up to three years (standard program duration). Students who have an annual program GPA of 3.0 or greater (as of semester 2 result release date) will receive $10,000 per annum in the following year. Approved part-time students would be paid at a half-rate.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • be an Australian citizen
  • register with RMIT’s Ngarara Willim Centre and provide documentation confirming that you are an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the scholarship application due date
  • be enrolling full-time in semester 1 2023 (part-time students with extenuating circumstances will also be considered)
  • be commencing your second year of an associate or bachelor degree in 2023, having already completed between 96-108 -credit points in your program
  • be able to demonstrate financial disadvantage such as:
  • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
  • be able to demonstrate circumstance/s which impact your ability to study such as:
  • having a long term medical condition or disability
  • experiencing difficult family/social circumstances
  • be from an interstate or rural/regional area and moving/moved to Melbourne to study at RMIT
  • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state
  • be from an under-represented background such as completed secondary school at a School Network Access Program school Preference will be given to students who are studying in the following disciplines: information technology, STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths), business.
