Description: The Dean Carter Chiropractic Scholarship, jointly supported by the New Zealand College of Chiropractic (NZCC) and the New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association (NZCA), aims to foster diversity in the field of chiropractic by supporting promising students of Māori descent who wish to pursue a chiropractic education. This scholarship seeks to empower Māori students, particularly those who may not have otherwise considered a career in chiropractic due to financial hardship, to become chiropractors who can make significant contributions to their communities and the chiropractic profession.
Funded by: The New Zealand College of Chiropractic (NZCC) and the New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association (NZCA)
Benefits: The scholarship provides the following benefits:
- Full tuition fee coverage at NZCC
- An annual living cost stipend of $5,000
- Ongoing individual mentorship and guidance throughout the student’s tenure at NZCC
Tenure: The scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 5 years to cover the duration of the recipient’s chiropractic education at NZCC.
Criteria for Selection: To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be eligible to enrol as a new student to the NZCC or a student returning after a prolonged absence
- Be of Māori descent
- Demonstrate evidence of financial hardship
- Exhibit a history of community involvement with a commitment to continuing to serve their community, particularly Māori communities, and the chiropractic profession following graduation as a chiropractor
- Demonstrate cultural leadership in their school or community -Highly value mentorship and personal and professional growth
- Display academic merit
- Show a strong motivation to train as a chiropractor
The application deadline is November 30th of each year.
