Overview

The Black or Indigenous Heritage Student-Athlete (BIHS) Bursary is available to student-athletes whose heritage is self-identified as either Black or Indigenous and provides additional financial support to those demonstrating financial need.

Limited funding is available, and students will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Value: up to $2,000

Eligibility

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all of the qualifications in at least one of the following groups

  • Applicant must be a current student.
  • I confirm that I have read, understood and agree to the Student Declaration.
  • Applicant must be a student-athlete.
  • Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Applicant must identify as a member of a racialized group.
  • Applicant self-identify as Black (including African, African-Canadian, African-American, Afro-Caribbean/West Indian).
  • Applicant would like to be considered for need-based aid.
  • Applicant must comply with the bursary regulations noted in the current University Calendar.
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial need. Financial need is most often demonstrated through an OSAP or other government aid - assessment of at least $1.

  • Applicant must be a current student.
  • I confirm that I have read, understood and agree to the Student Declaration. -Applicant must be a student-athlete.
  • Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Applicant must self-identify as a member of an equity-deserving group. -Applicant must self-identify as an Indigenous person of Canada.
  • Applicant would like to be considered for need-based aid.
  • Applicant must comply with the bursary regulations noted in the current University Calendar.
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial need. Financial need is most often demonstrated through an OSAP or other government aid assessment of at least $1
