Overview
The 2+2 Transfer Scholarship is designed to assist and encourage transfer students from Maryland community colleges to attend a 4-year institution within the state and complete their bachelor's degrees in a timely manner. Students must be enrolled in an eligible accredited Maryland postsecondary institution.
Recipients are eligible for $1,000 annually towards tuition and mandatory fees. Recipients enrolling in a science, teaching, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or nursing program are eligible for $2,000 annually.
Eligibility
Individuals applying for the 2+2 Transfer Scholarship for the first time for the 2024-2025 academic year must:
- Be a resident of Maryland;
- Have completed the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1, 2024 for priority consideration or by December 31, 2024;
- Submit a 2+2 Transfer Scholarship application through the MHEC One-App on MDCAPS by December 31, 2024 and any required documentation;
- Be attending a Maryland community college with plans to finish an associate's degree by December 2024 OR have completed an associate's degree from a Maryland community in the 2023-2024 academic year;
- Applicants who complete their associate's degree in the 2023-2024 academic year must be transferring to a 4-year institution for Fall 2024;
- Applicants who will complete their associate's degree in Fall 2024 must be transferring to a 4-year institution in Spring 2025;
- Have maintained a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale while at a Maryland community college;
- Be transferring to a Maryland public or private nonprofit 4-year higher education institution as a full-time, degree seeking undergraduate student in the 2024-2025 academic year;
- Have demonstrated financial need; Student must not have an Student Aid Index (SAI) over $10,000;
- For applicable individuals, have registered with the Selective Service System.
