Standard Bank Africa Chairman's Scholarships (MPhil)

The Standard Bank Africa Chairman’s Scholarships are for applicants from Africa undertaking a one-year Masters course at Magdalene College. Applicants should ordinarily reside in one of the 20 Standard Bank African operating countries (Angola, Botswana, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe). The scholarship aims to create a network of African leaders who will influence and champion Africa’s development and sustainability, while exercising global influence through visionary leadership.
A preference will be given to students commencing a course of study in the following programmes: MPhil in Advanced Computer Science, MPhil in Economics, MPhil in Education, MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development, MPhil in Finance, MPhil in Machine Learning and Machine Intelligence, and MPhil in Management. Candidates for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Finance (MFin) courses are not eligible. A preference will be given to students who show an authentic desire to promote Africa’s growth.
This scholarship is offered in partnership with The Standard Bank of South Africa and Magdalene College.
Candidates will be selected by Magdalene College. It is a condition of the award that the recipient be a member of Magdalene College or willing to transfer to the College.
There is no separate application for these awards. All eligible applicants who apply by the relevant deadline will automatically be considered.
