Rakaia Island Scholarship
Lincoln University
Purpose
The Rakaia Island Scholarships were established in 2022 to assist and recognise students at Lincoln University with a passion for agriculture.
Number/Value
Two scholarships are awarded annually to fulltime students and shall comprise, via a credit to the recipient’s fees account, an amount of $5,000 towards a fulltime course load of eight courses. The payment will normally be made at the commencement of Semester 1 the following year of study.
One scholarship will be awarded to a student who is intending to enter the third year of a Bachelor of Agriculture or Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree.
One scholarship will be awarded to a student in a Diploma in Agriculture intending to continue into a Diploma in Farm Management.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply an applicant must meet all the following criteria.
a. Be full time students registered in a. either the second year of a Bachelor of Agriculture or Bachelor of Agricultural Science or Diploma in Agriculture b. Be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents.
The criteria for selection will be:
a. Academic merit b. Demonstrable interest in Agriculture in New Zealand now and in the future
Tenure
a. The scholarship shall be tenable for one academic year. b. The scholarship will be awarded conditional on the successful completion of Semester 2 courses. c. The scholarship can be tenable with any other scholarship, bursary or award. d. An opportunity to work for Rakaia Island, will be provided, through the summer break. There is no obligation to accept a position. Note: a separate employment agreement will be organised if the opportunity to work for Rakaia Island is taken up
