Lincoln University Māori and Pasifika Accommodation Scholarship

Purpose
This scholarship was established in 2017 to support Māori and Pasifika students who are entering undergraduate or sub-degree study at Lincoln University and who show strong leadership potential in their communities
Number/Value
The number of scholarships awarded annually shall be decided by the ViceChancellor and shall comprise, via a credit to the student’s accommodation
account, an amount of $5,000. The scholarship does not include payment of any bond or contingency fee specified by Lincoln University accommodation. a) This amount is payable into the recipients’ accommodation account in two equal instalments. These instalments shall be transferred as soon as possible after the last day to withdraw in each academic semester. b) Should a scholar withdraw from study at any time during the tenure of the scholarship, the value of the scholarship will not be refunded. c) Payment indicated above is only valid for on-campus university accommodation. It does not include payment for any off-campus housing. Successful applicants will be required to contribute positively to the activities of Te Awhioraki, the Lincoln University Māori Students’ Association and/or LUPISA, the Lincoln University Pacific Island Students’ Association throughout the academic year
Eligibility
To be eligible to hold the scholarship applicants shall:
a) Be of either Māori and/or Pasifika descent b) Be enrolled for a full time Lincoln University undergraduate or subdegree. c) Have demonstrated leadership potential in the Māori and/or Pasifika community
Selection Criteria
The criteria for selection shall include all of the following: a) Demonstrated commitment to Māori and/or Pasifika leadership and advancement within their school or extended community, and b) Has met the entry requirements to complete a degree or sub degree at Lincoln University, and c) Assessment of a 2 minute video clip provided by the applicant outlining why they think studying at Lincoln University would be advantageous for their future endeavours
Tenure
a) The tenure of the scholarship is for a maximum of one year. b) The scholarship is not tenable with any other Lincoln University funded scholarship. c) The scholarship is tenable with any other external scholarship, award or bursary with approval from the Lincoln University Scholarship conveno
