Department of Conservation (DoC) Parks and Outdoor Recreation Scholarship

Purpose
The Department of Conservation (DOC) established this scholarship in 2018 to provide assistance to talented students undertaking studies in the area of Parks and Outdoor Recreation.
- Number/Value
These scholarships are open to full time students studying a Bachelor degree with a Major in Parks and Outdoor Recreation at Lincoln University. The maximum total value of the scholarship will be $5,000 dispersed on the following basis: Year 1: $1,500; Year 2: $1,500; Year 3: $1,500; and $500 upon successful completion of the Major. Existing Year 2 and 3 students wishing to enrol in the Major in Parks and Outdoor Recreation are eligible to apply for the scholarship, subject to course advice. Tenure will only apply for the year(s) of enrolment in the programme.
(a) Applicants who are enrolled in a Bachelors degree at Lincoln University with a Major in Parks and Outdoor Recreation (b) Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens/Permanent Residents
Selection Criteria
The criteria for selection will be
(a) Aspiration to work in conservation, parks, outdoor recreation or related fields (b) Academic Merit (c) Evidence of active participation in conservation, outdoor recreation or related field
In awarding the scholarship(s), the selection committee will also give regard to the representative diversity of the New Zealand Community
