Bart Baker Memorial Scholarship
Lincoln University
This scholarship was established in 1997 as the result of a $20,000 donation from the Bart Baker Memorial Trust.
Regulations
The award shall be known as The Bart Baker Memorial Scholarship.
One or more scholarships will be awarded annually to full time students enrolled at Lincoln University and carrying out postgraduate research in the area of vertebrate pest management in New Zealand. Preference will be given to those students enrolled for an Honours degree or Postgraduate Diploma.
The scholarship shall have a tenure of one year.
The selection committee shall determine the number and value of the awards available each year taking into account the amount of funds available for disbursement according to the University’s investment policy whereby one third of the annual interest earned is reinvested to maintain the real capital base and the remaining two thirds is available for disbursement.
The scholarship is to be awarded by the Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of a selection committee which shall comprise: i) the Vice-Chancellor or nominee ii) the Head of Department of Entomology & Animal Ecology or nominee iii) the Convenor of the Lincoln University Postgraduate Scholarships Committee or nominee.
The criteria for the award shall be the academic worth of the project and the academic merit of the candidate (as it relates to the project).
The selection committee may refrain from making an award if, in their opinion, there is no applicant of sufficient merit.
The name of the recipient(s) shall be advised to the Trustees each year via their nominated Accountant.
The scholarship may be held with any other scholarship, bursary, prize or fellowship, unless the conditions of the other award preclude it.
