Overview

Robert W. Woodruff Music Scholarship is awarded through collaboration with the Department of Music, Emory College Admission, and the Emory College Scholars Program. This merit-based scholarship is presented to students who demonstrate promise in developing the Scholars Qualities while also being exceptionally talented in their applied area of music such as Jazz, Piano, Instrumental, and Voice.

The Woodruff Music Scholarship covers full tuition, required fees, on campus housing, and meals. Woodruff Scholars are members of the Emory College Scholars Program and participate in a wide range of annual programming aimed at developing the Scholars Qualities. Woodruff Music Scholars are not required to major or minor in music—though many do—but are expected to be active in ensembles through the duration of their Emory College experience.

Eligibility

High school students interested in applying to be a Woodruff Music Scholar must do the following:

  • Apply Regular Decision to Emory College by November 15
  • Select in the application that you are interested in being considered for merit-based scholarships
  • Complete an audition with the Department of Music by December 4 (pre-screening required). See the Music Scholarships and Music Auditions pages for more information.

Applicants will be reviewed by the Department of Music as well as Emory College Admission. Candidates who are selected as finalists by both groups will move forward into the Scholars Finalist process in February. Finalists participate in a variety of virtual and on-campus selection processes during February and March, with scholarship winners announced in early April.
