Overview

Description/Applicant information PhD Scholarship Opportunity

Are you interested in understanding how humans learn to make critical decisions in complex work systems? Do you want to be at the forefront of use-inspired basic research that shapes industries like aviation and defence? Curtin University’s Future of Work Institute (FOWI) is offering a 3-year scholarship for a motivated individual to undertake a Doctor of Philosophy.

About the Project:

As a PhD student, you will contribute to a project focused on human learning and decision making within the context of complex workplace decisions. This research aims to develop models of how humans learn about automated advice, and of the impact of learning on remembering and executing planned actions. Further, the research aims to identify factors that pose risks to learning and adaptation in high-stakes industries.

What We Offer:

Three-year scholarship.

Cutting-Edge Research: Join a dynamic team at FOWI, working alongside leading experts in cognitive psychology, human factors, and organizational psychology.

State-of-the-Art Facilities: Access our advanced laboratory, computational resources, and specialized equipment to conduct your experiments and simulations.

Supportive Environment: Receive mentorship from experienced supervisors who will help you develop your skills and achieve your full potential.

Professional Development: At FOWI you will have access to workshops, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance your research and career prospects.

You will be trained in programming and computational modelling by your principal supervisor. For this, prior experience is not required, but motivation to develop these skills is important.

Industry Connections: The potential to collaborate with a range of industry partners, ensuring your research has real-world impact and relevance.
