Overview

Marc La Ferrière received his B.A. Specialization in Communication Studies while attending Concordia University from 1983 until 1986. After obtaining his degree, he became employed as a sound engineer/producer at Montreal’s contemporary adult hit radio station CJFM 95.9 FM (now known as Virgin Radio), after having previously completed a successful 3-month Co-Op term. At the time, he also worked for a local television station in a technical role, until he obtained his dream investigative position with the Federal government.

Without the support of a student loan, scholarship or bursary, Marc was working 32 hours per week during his university studies to pay his tuition and living expenses. Now in a financially comfortable situation, Marc has chosen to give back to the community. He established the Marc La Ferrière Bursary in Communication Studies to encourage and support students whose passion for communication studies is such that, without financial support, it would not be possible to comfortably focus on their studies due to the other necessities of life.

This bursary is available for new full-time or part-time Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students restricted to students in the Faculty in Arts and Science in Communication Studies.
