Leona and Samuel Small Community Service Award

This In-Course Bursary was established in 2014 by the generosity of Lauren Small-Pennefather (BA '95, MA '97) and Jeffrey Pennefather (BA '94) in loving memory of Lauren's parents who instilled family values of civic responsibility and community service. The Leona and Samuel Small Community Service Award is intended to encourage and support students in financial need who are (1) members of the School of Community and Public Affairs and have made a significant contribution to community service. This bursary may be renewed on the basis of continuing membership in the SCPA, ongoing enrollment, and a minimum Assessment GPA of 2.00. In the event there are no candidates, the bursary may be awarded (2) to a student enrolled in a Bachelor's program in the Faculty of Arts and Science in any area, who has made a significant contribution to community service (3)to a student enrolled in the SCPA with no community service. Open to full-time and part-time Canadian citizens, permanent residents and international students.
Concordia offers need-based In-Course Bursaries to returning Bachelor's students in the Fall semester.
Application deadline The 2024-2025 Undergraduate In-Course Bursary Program will be open April 1, 2024.
In-Course Bursaries are awarded by the Financial Aid and Awards Office to previously admitted students following an application-based competition that includes a financial need test and holistic committee review. Applicants are notified of the results after the Financial Aid and Awards Office receives results from the bursary committee.
The In-Course Bursary program normally open April 1, 2024 and will close on May 15, 2024.
