La bourse in Memoriam Kelly Oliel Award
Concordia University
La bourse in memoriam Kelly Oliel Award was created by the Département d’études françaises to honour the memory of former student Kelly Oliel, who passed away in July 2022 after a valiant battle with Ewing's sarcoma. The Award will assist an undergraduate student who, like Kelly, combines strong academic achievement with participation in Department and volunteer activities. The Award shall be granted through competition to a full-time student enrolled in a course of study leading to a Bachelor's of Translation (Specialization, co-op or major) from the Département d'études françaises, who is in their second year of studies or beyond, who combines strong academic achievement, as reflected by a minimum 3.3 GPA, with a commitment to community. Students who meet the criteria will submit a one-page letter describing their involvement in Department and volunteer activities, along with a letter of reference from a volunteer organization with which they are involved (if applicable). Examples of involvement in Department and volunteer activities may include, by way of example only, participation in the Department’s translation games (Jeux de la Traduction), and/or participation in conferences, written research papers, and/or member of USAT student association, and/or external community involvement (volunteering).
