Havie Chinks Bursary in Theatre

Havie Chinks is a woman who is passionate about theatre. Her son, the shining star of her life, is an actor in New York City. As Havie Chinks notes, “While he has worked as a waiter, a baker, and even a Santa Claus at Macy's, he is now able to support himself as a full time actor.” She has always admired his dedication to his craft. Havie Chinks raised her son on her own, yet her son's commitment to succeeding in the performing arts always remained a priority at home. In honour of this — Havie Chinks would like to continue the tradition and support another student in the hope that the recipient of the Havie Chinks Bursary in Theatre would be both dedicated to the craft of acting and also passionate about theatre — reflecting the values of Havie Chinks and those of her son. Open to full-time or part-time Canadian citizens, permanent residents or international students. The Havie Chinks Bursary in Theatre is intended to encourage and reward students currently enrolled in the Specialization in Theatre Performance, whose commitment and spirit towards acting reflects a love of theatre and the profession of acting as embodied by Havie Chinks and her son.

Concordia offers need-based In-Course Bursaries to returning Bachelor's students in the Fall semester.

Application deadline The 2024-2025 Undergraduate In-Course Bursary Program will be open April 1, 2024.

In-Course Bursaries are awarded by the Financial Aid and Awards Office to previously admitted students following an application-based competition that includes a financial need test and holistic committee review. Applicants are notified of the results after the Financial Aid and Awards Office receives results from the bursary committee.

The In-Course Bursary program normally open April 1, 2024 and will close on May 15, 2024.
