Glencross Family Award in Art Education
Concordia University
This award was established in 2011 in memory of Charlotte Glencross, who was a talented artist and a motivated community activist. In honor of her life and legacy, the Glencross family, led by Charlotte's mother Gwendolin T. Glencross, will establish an endowment to fund an annual award. The Glencross Family Award in Art Education will be issued annually to a student whose work and values reflect creativity, artistry and a vocation for teaching.
Born in Montreal in 1949, Charlotte Glencross achieved her BFA ( Painting ) in 1970 from Concordia University. She carried on and earned a Diploma in Weaving from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 1976 and later completed Apprenticeships in Tapestry in both Germany and France. She became an accomplished artist in weaving, tapestry, water color, batik and ikat, and was well known for her extraordinary gifts in color, texture and conception, as well as for her fine skill and attention to detail.
