Overview

This scholarship is funded by François Plourde, who is a Bachelor of Engineering alumnus (’84) and former President and CEO at CIMA+. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2014, and member of CIMA+’s Executive Committee since 1996. He was awarded the title of Fellow by the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, in recognition of his excellence in the field of engineering, and for services rendered to the profession. In 2015, he received the Josef-Hode-Keyser honorary award from the Association québécoise des transports (AQTr), in recognition of his remarkable career in the industry. A dedicated leader and strong advocate for integrity and ethical behaviour in business; François received the 2019 Beaubien Award from ACEC Canada in recognition of his significant contribution to the advancement of the Consulting Engineering profession and industry.

The Donor is making a gift to the University to establish the Fund to support women in the GCS through the Scholarships and the Equity Fund in order to encourage the success of women in an underrepresented field of work.

The Scholarships shall be granted annually through competition, on the basis of outstanding academic achievement as assessed by the University during the admission process, to two (2) newly-admitted fulltime female students beginning a course of study leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Candidates may be Canadian citizens or permanent residents only.

Eligibility

Concordia offers need-based In-Course Bursaries to returning Bachelor's students in the Fall semester.

Application deadline The 2024-2025 Undergraduate In-Course Bursary Program will be open April 1, 2024.

In-Course Bursaries are awarded by the Financial Aid and Awards Office to previously admitted students following an application-based competition that includes a financial need test and holistic committee review. Applicants are notified of the results after the Financial Aid and Awards Office receives results from the bursary committee.

The In-Course Bursary program normally open April 1, 2024 and will close on May 15, 2024.
