Andre Ward Awards for Excellence in Education

This annual award is in honour of André Ward, a generous and inspirational teacher and compassionate volunteer, who emigrated to Montreal from Egypt in the 1960s. André Ward built a new life for his family while renewing his training, and worked as a teacher in Montreal for many years.
The awars shall be granted through competition, based on academic merit, among full-time students pursuing a Bachelor degree in Education at the University. The recipient of this award will be a 4th-year full-time student in an undergraduate Education program who (has a cumulative GPA of 3.75) and who has appeared on the Dean’s List for the most recent two years of their studies in the program. Additionally, the student will demonstrates a record of sustained involvement in the community during their studies. To apply, a student must be nominated by a faculty member from the Department of Education, and will supply a statement outlining his or her academic achievements and record of service to the community. One or more letters from community organizations or NGOs describing the student’s service should also be included. The applications will be adjudicated by a committee of faculty members which will include the Chair and Associate Chair of the department, as well as program directors from each of the undergraduate programs. The Award is opne to Canadian citizens or permanent residents only.
In-course bursaries Concordia offers need-based In-Course Bursaries to returning Bachelor's students in the Fall semester.
Application deadline The 2024-2025 Undergraduate In-Course Bursary Program will be open April 1, 2024.
In-Course Bursaries are awarded by the Financial Aid and Awards Office to previously admitted students following an application-based competition that includes a financial need test and holistic committee review. Applicants are notified of the results after the Financial Aid and Awards Office receives results from the bursary committee.
The In-Course Bursary program normally open April 1, 2024 and will close on May 15, 2024.
