Choice of School: Washington College, 300 Washington Ave, Chestertown, MD 21620
Considerations: Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance, have a reputation of good character, and show that they have the maturity and commitment to succeed in college level courses of study. Applicants must have a C average or higher as determined by Washington College.
Nature of Award: The amount of the award will be a minimum of $2,500 for one academic year. Each high school will select one recipient per year.
How to Apply:
Applications are available at your school guidance office or www.cfes.org/scholarships. Completed applications must be submitted to your high school guidance office no later than April 1st of the current school year to be eligible for fall semester assistance. An application is complete, and considered for a scholarship award, only when the following have been submitted:
- A completed scholarship application
- Official high school transcript of grades
- Letter of acceptance from Washington College
- Two letters of recommendation from non-family members (e.g. teacher, guidance counselor, employer, athletic coach, etc.)
- One page essay that explains or describes:
• Why you are deserving of this financial award, including why monetary aid is necessary • Why you chose to attend Washington College • Your professional and personal goals for college
Who May Apply:
Graduating students from Worcester County High Schools (Stephen Decatur High School, Pocomoke High School, Snow Hill High School, and Worcester Preparatory School) who have been accepted for admission as a full-time student at Washington College. Students must be residents of Worcester County for not less than two years prior to the beginning of the fall semester.
