Choice of School:
Applicants must be accepted for full time enrollment at an accredited four-year college or university, or an accredited two-year institution. Applicants may also be considered if they have been accepted into an apprenticeship with a job in the trade industry demonstrating need for tools, training, supplies, etc.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a reputation of good character, be a well-rounded citizen and have participated in extra-curricular school or community activities. Successful applicants should demonstrate they have the maturity and commitment to succeed in college. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Essay:
Applicants must submit an essay that answers the following question: How will this scholarship help you?
Nature of Award:
Minimum of $1,000 for one academic year. Students in good standing may reapply for up to four years.
F. How to Apply:
Applications are available at www.cfes.org or in the Stephen Decatur High School guidance office. Completed applications must be submitted to the Scholarship Advisory Committee Chair (address indicated in application) by no later than April 1st to be considered for a scholarship
award, only when the following have been submitted:
- A completed scholarship application
- Official high school transcript of grades
- Letter of acceptance from college or university
- Two letters of recommendation from non-family members (e.g. teacher, guidance counselor, employer, athletic coach, etc.)
- Essay as described above
Applicant may be required to be interviewed by the Scholarship Advisory Committee
Who May Apply:
Applicants must be graduating seniors of Stephen Decatur High School or Worcester Technical High School programs in Worcester County, Maryland.
