Overview

The Northern Potter Scholarship Fund was established by retired Northern Potter School Teacher, Wanda Shirk. It’s grown with the support of numerous community members that are also dedicated to its mission to assist Northern Potter Seniors in a post-secondary education. This scholarship is for Northern Potter School District seniors. The number of scholarships awarded and the dollar amount awarded each year will be determined by funds available. No consideration is to be given to financial need. Applicants must submit a statement of educational/career plans, transcript of academic record, record of extra-curricular/community activities and 200 word essay on “Liberty” and be interviewed by the selection committee.

Eligibility
  • Graduating senior from Northern Potter High School.  
           
    
  • Has been accepted into an accredited college or university.
    
  • Essay (200-250 words double spaced) - choose a person living or dead, known to you personally or perhaps only through reading or history, whose life and character have inspired you.  Explain why you chose this person.
    
  • Copy of transcript for academic record.
    
  • Finalists must be willing and available to be interviewed by the scholarship selection committee, if requested.
    
  • Attach a statement of educational / career plans (career may be undecided).
    
  • Please provide a list of school based activities (including leadership positions, clubs and athletics) as well as community volunteer activities and the number of months or years.
    
  • Provide copy of letter of acceptance to accredited college or university.
